The Baffling Basques

In the Basque Country, we have encountered a wonderful land of enigmatic people conversing in a melodic and mysterious tongue.

From Catalonia, we have crossed the Pyrenees Mountains, and settled for a month on the Basque Coast of Spain.

At the end of our month in Catalonia, we crossed the Pyrenees Mountains in search of a loftier perspective.

Along the Costa Brava, we followed the Camí de Ronda, Catalonia’s legendary long-distance coastal footpath.

Catalonia’s claim for independence from Spain is deeply rooted in its medieval history.

Barcelona contains a treasure-trove of designs by architect Antoni Gaudí.

In the next three months, we will travel to Catalonia, the Basque Country, and Spain’s capital city of Madrid.

For the month of May, we are in Europe to visit our eldest daughter Claire in France, and to travel together in Portugal and Spain.

Puebla is located in the center of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, and is a good base for exploring the country’s highest mountains.

Puebla is the largest and best preserved baroque city in Mexico and the Western Hemisphere.
